Description of the organisation

Chambers’ Group for the development of Greek Isles is a non-profit. Non-government organization (NGO), which established in 1994 by 14 Greek Insular Chambers of Commerce and Industry. It operates under the Greek Low and its headquarters are located in Chios Island.

Its main objectives are to promote and achieve the economic and social cohesion between islands and continental regions, to support the island enterprises and enhance their extroversion attitude, to drive actions towards the sustainable development and the end of the isolation of European Union islands.

Ε.Ο.Α.Ε.Ν. is a full member of the «Mediterranean Commission for the Sustainable Development (CMDD) within the framework of the Program of Action for the Mediterranean (ΡΑΜ) under the United Nations Program for the Environment (PNUE). It was also elected ordinary member of the Chambers’ Association of the Mediterranean» (AS.CA.ME).

It is one of the founding members of the European Network of Insular Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Insuleur). Insuleur is a non-profit association established according to Greek law. It operates at a European level to enhance economic and social development of the EU islands through close co-operation of island Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The Network’s registered offices are in Chios, Greece, and its statutes have been registered with the Court of First Instance of Chios.

At this time Ε.Ο.Α.Ε.Ν. participates in several European and Greek R&D projects, proposals and initiatives that promote the sustainable development of the insular and isolated regions of the Greek territory, as well as their corresponding enterprises.
